Walking by faith

The Lord will not show us all that is going to happen in our lives, the whole of His plan, from beginning to end. The Word of God is also a progressive revelation of His plan and will for us. For the Lord wills that we walk by faith, not by sight.

If He would reveal everything to us in advance, then we would no longer walk by faith but by sight. Walking by sight is natural; walking by faith is supernatural.

Faith is to be in agreement with God, with His Word. In Amos 3:3, the question is asked: “Do two men walk together without agreement?”

What is valid for men is equally valid in our walk with God. We cannot walk with Him if we admit to being defeated by trials or sickness, for God will never agree with us.

Without faith, it is simply impossible to please Him. Faith should be our “lifestyle”.

Faith must be exercised

Faith is a “spiritual muscle” that needs to be nourished by exercising it.

The word of Jesus in Mark 11:22, “Have faith in God”, is translated into Greek as “Have God’s faith”. And in verses 23 and 24, we can see that it is more about saying, talking, declaring than believing, “If someone says…”; “Whatever you ask for”.

Faith must be exercised for it is by proclaiming the Word of God that the Lord is enabled to release His power.

God has given us the ability to imagine; we must use it if we want to see the “possible of God”; see as God sees. Satan will try to confine us in the natural, in fear and circumstances but faith will take us into the supernatural.

Faith is connected to authority

Faith is connected to authority; the Roman Centurion understood it (Matthew 8:5-13).

The fig tree was cursed by the Word of authority of Jesus and in one day, it dried up (Mark 11:12-14; 11:20-24). In verse 23, the Lord Jesus says:

Mark 11:23 « 23For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. » KJV

We should stop talking to God about our problems and start talk to our problems, “our mountains”, striking them with the Word of God.

A mountain represents any obstacle or difficulty that is insurmountable from a human point of view. Let not the mountain speak to us, but let us speak to it with authority. When faith is exercised, then the impossible becomes possible.

How to nourish one’s faith?

In a given situation, one nourishes his faith by meditating on all the verses of the Word of God related to that situation.

Faith, the foundation of the revelation of the divinity of Christ

To the statement of faith of the apostles in Matthew 14:33, “You are truly the Son of God,” Jesus answered nothing for it came from men who had just witnessed a miracle, namely seeing Jesus walk on the waters and soothe the sea beaten by the waves.

But further on, in Matthew 16:13-17, to this revelation of Simon Peter : “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” which came from the heavenly Father, Jesus answered:

Matthew 16:17 « 17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. » KJV

It is faith that must be the foundation of the revelation of the divinity of Jesus Christ, not knowledge or experiences.
