The couple of today
The Bible answers any questions you may have about family.
The couple of today, where the individual is king, centered on himself and in a permanent quest for happiness, has become difficult to build. We want to be together, but still be free. As a result, marriage is no longer the stable and definitive social institution it once was.
Today, the couple is subordinate to self-realization and many think they can do without marriage.
The family, divine concept and basis of every human society
The word “family” comes from the Latin word “familia”, which comes from “famulus”, which means “servant”, “slave”.
In today’s western society, the family unit is more isolated than before. The relationship between spouses, but also between parents and children, is weakened. Women, who often work, have less time to devote to their homes and the authority of the father is weakened.
And yet God, who is the Creator of all men (Genesis 1:26-27) – even those who do not believe in Him – is also the Creator of the family (Ephesians 3:14-15).
Genesis 1:26- 27 “26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” KJV.
The family was not «invented» by men; it is a divine concept. It is the bedrock of every human society, no matter its size. Every time we attack the family, in reality, we attack society.
Ephesians 3:14-15 “14For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named” KJV.
The very first covenant that God established is that which unites man to woman, Adam and Eve. A Christian home is much more than a wealthy one; it is a “sanctuary”, a shelter given by God in the midst of a world without God and without Christ, against the power of Satan which acts outside but also seeks to enter our homes, through television or our phones.
