Love – Human love – The love of God poured into our hearts

Human Love – Natural Love

It would be vain to ask men to walk in love. They are unable to do so because they have not received, through the New Birth, the nature of God.

Natural love has failed because it rests on the selfishness of man. «Agape», the love of Jesus Christ, never turns into jealousy, bitterness or hatred.

The word “Agape” was not used in classical Greek before the coming of Christ. Obviously, this word has its origins in the field of knowledge by divine revelation. So Jesus gave birth to a word, bringing a new kind of love into the world.

«Agape» is the solution to human problems and meets all the needs of life.

The love of God poured into our hearts

Where is God’s love poured out ? In our hearts (Romans 5:5). In the Old Covenant, people were not born again, and their hearts were not regenerated. Therefore, God’s love could not be poured into their hearts by the Holy Spirit. But the hearts of the believers, in the New Covenant, have been recreated and transformed.

Romans 5 : 5 « 5And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. » KJV

We could never love our enemies, as the Lord Jesus asked us, without the New Birth and the nature of our hearts changed. Only divine love in us allows us to love them.

And does God love His enemies? Yes, He loves them ! God loved us when we were still sinners.

Love produces generosity and forgiveness : love is the bond of perfection.

Ephesians 5 : 2 «2and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. » KJV

1 John 4 : 16 « 16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. » KJV

Colossians 3 : 14 «14And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. » KJV
