Christianity is a relationship more than a religion
Christianity is not a building, an organization, or even an institution, but a living organism, a relationship with a living Person: Jesus Christ.
In all religions, it is man who seeks God; our God has come to us, in the Person of Christ, to meet man in his need.
No religion leads to God; only one Person leads to the heavenly Father: Jesus Christ.
God is not the Father of all men; Jesus told the Pharisees, who were Israelites like Him, that they had the devil as their father (John 8:44). God is only the Father of those who are born again, of those who believe in Jesus Christ.
John 8 : 44 «44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. » KJV
In Mark 3:14-15, it is written that Jesus established the twelve above all to be with Him. The Lord wants, first of all, to build a relationship with us; He wants us to be with Him.
Mark 3 : 14 « 14And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach. » KJV
Christian life is a life of communion. We do not have to seek power, but the presence of God, that is the relationship with Jesus. It is this presence that gives us a prophetic direction.
« Extending our roots » – Developing moments of intimacy with the Lord
We must “extend our roots”, that is develop moments of intimacy with the Lord. Jesus Himself needed intimacy with His Father, to be alone with Him; even more do we also need this presence.
The secret of intimacy with God is in the development of an «inner attention»: knowing how to listen to our spirit.
